Felran remained silent during the entire exchange, extremely dissapointed the natives didnt give a bigger fight. It was absoulutlely disgraceful. Not thinking any challenge would come to the gates worthy of his attention he followed his master. He was completely silent as they made their way through the seceret passage. He glanced at Verill and Ziva and it was strange......Felran didn't remeber Verill ever speaking of him having a daughter before now. He assumed it was because there was no reason before now but it still bugged him. Who was the mother then? Felran had a feeling he would find out soon enough. When they entered the halls Felran took his time looking around, all the while staying close to his master. Then Felran turned to gaze Lady Rhaenona. She was.....interesting to say the least. He could only assume she was the mother of Verill's child, she had to be right?
Verrill dropped his head and looked up at Rhaenona "I honestly do not know most of the details. I did as I have always and escorted her to the temple where I took my normal spot against the pillar then things just went down hill from their. I felt a disturbance in the force and then I heard the crowd of people coming forward. I rushed to the gate to see what was wrong and assess the situation. Once I got their I tried to speak to them in basic but it was no use they did not listen and under the advisement of Xehnal we opened fire upon the crowd. I had tried to prevent this first by showing a might of force with my lightsabers and some warning shots first however." Verrill said as he looked to her with regret on his face. He did not like putting his wife in these type of situations. Verrill could see the questioning face on his apprentice but he knew now was not the time for introductions he was in trouble and would quite possibly have to face Nyx once again. "I am not cut out to be beside you it would seem. This is the second time that I have had to take a life while you were not incapacitated because of your dutys. I have brought nothing to you except trouble when I am here. If you wish I will leave this place and never return. I accept any consequences for my actions that you see fit to bestow upon me."
Rhaenona's expression softened as Verrill spoke the last five sentences, and she ran a hand along his upper arm, "This isn't like then. Malcontents against the ancient order of my kind, which comes from Nyx herself, can hardly be called innocent. But you were a little hasty to fight, understandable I guess for a seasoned Marauder, yet I fear this is only going to aggravate things more."
"Based on the preliminary reports from the Mayor of the City," Master Athrait explained, "We believe the group you encountered were members of the Shi'iehn, a fringe isolationist and anarchic element of the agitators. As her sacred majesty said hardly loyal citizens, yet in death they may prove more agreeable and useful to the forces of destabilization than in life. For all their blasphemy and seditious rhetoric they don't have a history of violence. The version currenly most circulated in rumor says they were unarmed when they approached the temple; this wouldn't be the first time unhinged radicals were changed into martyrs postmortem. Of course, neither the Mayor of the Temple nor the High Priestess has given me any straight answers about whether the mob carried weapons or not."
"Which means they didn't," Rhaenona posited confidently yet sourly, "Summon Captain Xehnal to me, Master Athrait, he has the most to answer for in this matter it seems. But, for now," the Witch-Queen turned her strange eyes, with their luminous blue irises, to Felran, "You were there, Apprentice, how did this event play out from your vantage?"
Felran stood in silence for quite some time. Perhaps he was rendered speechless by the Witch-Queen's exotic mien, maybe he was going over the events at length in his memory or possibly he was just trying to keep up an image of being the strong, silent type. Regardless of his motives, the Sith Apprentice maintained speechlessness for such a conspicuous duration that Xehnal arrived before anything further had been said.
The captain entered the queen's presence with the ritual reverence expected in Shi'ido culture. Before passing the threshold as it doors opened, he bowed then took several steps, bowed again and took a few more steps and finally stopped to bow at an appropriate speaking distance. He did not rise from this final genuflection until Rhaenona gestured for him to to do so and did not speak prior to being addressed.
"Captain," Rhaenona began in the same calm and smooth yet steely serious tone she'd been using this evening, "I've summoned you here to explain what you witnessed and did at the temple earlier."
"Yes, Your Divine Majesty," Xenhal responded dutifully, "Upon being informed that a disturbance was occurring at the temple gates I moved immediately to investigate the situation. Upon arriving I discovered a crowd of unruly trespassers shouting blasphemies. Prince-Consort Verrill asked me what was to be done with them and I requested his permission to disperse the filthy mob from so sacred a place. With permission given, I and my men began to fire on the riotous curs."
"You said 'disperse'," Rhaenona noted, "What made you decide to do so violently?"
Xenhal seemed almost surprised by the question, "They were committing blasphemy in a holy place, I feared that if they did not suffer due consequences for so brazen an act that Nyx' wrath might fall upon me and my men as well."
"How far from the temple gates was this crowd?" Athrait interjected.
"They were just past the treeline on the footpath."
"So they were some thirty meters or more from the gates," Rhaenona remarked, "Were they moving towards the temple?"
"No, Daughter of Nyx," Xenhal said using one of the many honorifics associated with Rhaenona's position, "They stood."
"And were they armed?" the question came from the Sith Witch's lips with a cutting emphasis that suggested it was the question to which this whole exchange had been leading.
Xenhal paused before replying, but even his obvious reluctance would not hold his tongue long in his sovereign's presence, "I did not see any of them brandishing weapons...nor do I believe any weapons were found on the slain later."
"These blasphemies you say they spoke must have been very impressive and original to merit attacking the unarmed," she commented disapprovingly.
"Utterly deserving of immediate execution, I swear it, Mother of our People!" Xenhal insisted with much animation, "They denied the divine ordinance of your reign, they called the priestesses swindlers who take people's sustenance and offer only lies in return and..." Here the captain paused for a second or two, his lively apologetics lowering into a cautious demeanor. Xenhal continued speaking but had switched from Galactic Basic to Shi'idese. Verrill didn't know what he'd said but recognized both the Shi'ido word for his title, Prince-Consort, and Ziva's title as well in the sentences. The Sith Marauder suspected, based on the captain's bearing, that the Shi'ido soldier had done this concealing language switch to spare Verrill the content of these words. That impression was reinforced first by the strange but sad look that passed between Rhaenona and Athrait at the mention of Verrill's title and the fiery anger that flared in her eyes at the part which mentioned Ziva's.
Verrill was not as dumb as he looked at times he could tell that he was not going to like what was to come next based on is wife's reactions. "What must be done must be done." he said to himself as he awaited their conversation to finish.
