Alright folks, despite a very strong start things have fallen completely off the cliff since then and, after talking it over, we're willing to call NSB 2.0 as dead in the water. The reality of it is that Xaos, Reaver, and myself have all been busy of late, so we haven't been able to keep things rolling the way we have in the old days, and beyond even that we're all getting old and we just don't have the time, energy, or desire to hold things up that we used to. Our secondary line of people to run things all unfortunately had things to do at the same time, and although we tried to emphasize the "anyone can run for anyone" aspect the wider base just hasn't shown any interest in that.
So, that's that I'm afraid. Thanks for all coming out.
We're still interested in trying to keep this community together/in touch, so we're going to look into the possibility of either starting up a low-effort DnD 5e forum, or even making the transition entirely to Discord and focusing less on grand-scale site-level roleplays and more on the traditional style with players pulled from this community (this might be the better option, as the popularity of forums has really fallen off with the increasing rise of social media and particularly Discord). Keep an eye out for announcements regarding that, because this community is strong enough to make the jump to another medium and potentially come out even stronger for it.
It really sucks but I think it's true. Forum based RP is kinda a dying breed. I had a lot of fun with ya folks.
On that very note I am incredibly interested in running one offs for DnD, Pathfinder, or Lancer. I am also working on a Powered by the Apocalypse ruleset so if anyone has an itch for roleplaying I would love the GMing practice. Currently trying to get a biweekly thing up. Talk to me on Discord about it if you're interested.
I would be 150% up for a more Discord-centric continuation of rp - it lends itself well to a more casual sort of setting.
Speaking of setting, I love this entire fanon and the NSB concept. So much so, in fact, that my partner and I have been partaking in some private, LARP- and Discord-based RP of our own in a looser rendition of the NSB setting, with Vaeros as an older Darth taking on a wilful and promising apprentice. My partner herself has outright said that, were it not for the tabletop elements, she would have very much liked to join us here - so if something more casual were to get going on Discord, she may well wish to join us there!
Well, it's the end then chums and chumettes. Though it's a shame to see the forum come to a halt at last, I think we can all see the writing on the wall. I haven't a clue what you're going to get up to on Discord with DnD5, or the setting. If it's a continuation in some way, shape or form of the old NSB, or 2.0, great. Keep the wagon rolling. If not, we'll see. Understandably I have more than a little attachment to Exolus, compared to creating someone from scratch for Discord. Though either way, my college schedule has me asleep relatively early on most weekdays. If I have the time, and life's not too hectic, I could drop by for a Discord session on the weekends.
I'm sorry beyond belief to see this happen, but I cant exactly complain given this is the first time in several weeks I've been able to have time to get online here thanks to pressures at work. I was actually coming on tonight to say that even though I wished to stay a member that I didnt think I was going to e able to RP as much, or run missions.

We had a good run, I'm glad.it survived as long ad it did and grateful for the friends around the world it helped me make. I even enjoyed our short stint lately, but as was said we all saw the writing in the wall and probably some foresaw it arriving as the traffic slowed here.
It's true Discord and Roll 20 have largely taken over forum based rping these days and as such we have suffered for it. Such are the times. That said if people can get some type of 5e going that would be great and I would love to be part of it, even if I haven't done 5e before. This community made me many happy memories, I would love to make more if we can in whatever form that takes.

'' 'Evil' is a word used by the ignorant and the weak. The darkside is about survival, it's about unleashing your inner power. It glorifies the strength of the individual.'' - Darth Lucifer
Darth Lucifer: Cool, I might check it out see the progress lol 😄 Me,Sampaga and Blazze and a few others been rping together again of late on another site. At least one of us old folk still about lol

Darth Xaos: I've added a character guide to the first post of the Rise of the New Sith Brotherhood thread; figured it might be useful since I'm rapidly approaching HBO-like numbers of major characters in this thing. lol

Darth Xaos: @ Xyr: That would be awesome, you should!
Jan 13, 2020 23:31:57 GMT
Darth Xaos: @ Sampaga: Raziel has an account here but he only ever dropped by to say hi, he RPs pretty much only on Facebook these days. Byss' player had a different character on the site this community was on right before this one but it's been a while since.

Darth Xaos: I'm gonna try to make the gap until the next one much less. Though I crunched the numbers, and I've got an averaged rate that's basically a chapter or interlude once per year, even despite this recent 3 year gap.

Darth Kairos: Only way it could have been worth it is if the bit with the Blazing Chain had included a forty page epic about how in a few decades time a certain Sith Lord would annihilate them with brilliant tactics and amazing wit.
Jan 8, 2020 7:20:44 GMT
Darth Kairos: Well...no. But it was pretty good all the same.
Jan 8, 2020 7:20:07 GMT
Darth Xaos: Thanks, mate, I appreciate it. Though was it worth the wait of the three year gap since the last chapter? lol
Jan 6, 2020 23:25:21 GMT
Darth Kairos: As always, brilliant work my old friend. The way you balance intrigue and drama with a healthy dose of tense combat always gets me excited. And watching Trivas' slide into greater and greater acts of evil is gripping.
Jan 6, 2020 8:29:19 GMT
Darth Xaos: @ Sampaga: Rise of NSB is a fanfiction I've been writing over the years (and continue to write despite us closing down) fictionalizing the events of the old communities, going all the way back to sithorder.com and sithcouncil.com.

Darth Xaos: @ All: Just posted a new chapter in Rise of the New Sith Brotherhood!
Jan 5, 2020 19:19:08 GMT
Darth Xaos: @ Sampaga: Indeed,it's been a while since I've seen your name as well. Sadly we had to shut down due to our main staff just not having enough time. If you want to see a whole bunch more names from the old days though, check this out...
