One of dozens of hidden bastions scattered across the Kishan Range, few can call themselves as old as Ur. Originally known as Ur-Shysa, the small fortress settlement that would later be simplified to "Ur" was likely constructed some time during, or shortly after the rule of King Enmekaar II. The exact date is unknown, but it is clear by engravings that the city predates the Second Reclamation by at least a decade. Populated by the mountain nomads who would become in the centuries to follow, the Narat, these Kishan nomads named the city after a common phrase "Aloft Stars", or Ur-Shysa, in the Kishan dialect. Sitting on the small plateau close to the peak of the shield volcano - Mount Kasha, Ur is strategically-located, with a wide, sweeping view of the Kishan region from the crest of its hills. Hidden well from the sky and the ground, Ur survived the Great Hyperspace War, in part thanks to its isolated position, but mostly due to a cocktail of elemental factors, dissuading any would-be scouts. Blanketed in heat from the neighboring Mount Eshana, and with plentiful shyrack nesting in the ancient lava tubes, Ur was left alone, unknown, in a region of little significance. Though appearing small from above, a good deal of the city is dotted about the plateau, with some parts even lying in large underground caverns, carved out by primordial magma flows.
Its residents have been, since antiquity, the Lords and Ladies of Clan Narat, the once-great military generals of the Sith Empire. Left as a pittance to Clan Adas, Clan Narat truly fell from grace in the centuries before the Clone Wars, as the hedonistic lifestyle of the Adas turned the once-historic city into one of political debauchery, its little wealth squandered to line the pockets of Adas' most faithful servants. In recent years, Ur has found some of its lost historical value, being prized as a symbol of Sith might, something the Obsidian Union greatly enjoys taunting the Galactic Alliance with. Today, Ur is best known for the Kishan Ziggurat, a Massassi-built architectural marvel, a monolithic site restored to its pristine glory by the Obsidian Union.
