Kai sat there nodding and biting her lower lip. "Your offer is quite tempting, though you don't have to threaten me with the possibility of these knights. I assure you I have survived horrors for beyond the imagination." she stared into the distance before shaking off the flood of memories before they consumed her. The years of meditation were paying off it seemed. "I have a request for you Vanaris, if I am to accept this offer. You're clearly in-tune with the Force so I'm sure you can feel the energy here, possibly hear the whispers as I have come to call them. Something happened here and I have never been able to find out what. I have been here years, as you know, and have found what I believe to be the source of this mysterious energy but I have been incapable of entering the fortress." The Gurlanin pulled her hood back revealing her white hair and orange eyes.
"I want you to venture into the fortress with me." she said standing up and extending a hand.
Kairos smiled. Some old fashioned tomb raiding sounded like a lot more fun than sitting at a rock discussing philosophy. He took the offered hand and gave the woman a firm handshake, and then placed his lightsaber back on his belt. "You have a deal," he agreed, happy to leave the standard Brotherhood recruitment script behind. "We take a dungeon dive, build up a rapport, have a nice lunch afterwards, and you think about what we can offer you."
He gestured towards the forest. "Lead the way, Kai'Aati."
"Glad to hear that, but I think it's a bit early in the relationship for a lunch date," she gave him a wink and a smirk before walking ahead of him, raising her hand in the air and making a gesture. "Also you'll have to ask Seven too." From the far side of the field a droid with a long rifle approached.
"Warmed up to our guest?" the droid asked once they were closer.
"Actually yes." she gave Venaris a glance. "Seven, this Venaris. He is offering me a job with the Union where my abilities could be useful." The droid only nodded in response so Kai kept talking, "Well, Venaris this is my friend Seven. They will be coming with us into the Fortress."
"I am?" they asked in as much disbelief as their robotic tone could produce.
"Of course Seven, now come on you two," she took off towards the woods and a brisk with a childish grin on her face.
The forest looked like any other that blanket terrestrial planets throughout the galaxy with seemingly untouched vegetation with trees reaching up toward the stars. And Pybus really was normal from a visual perspective but even a half-wit raider could put two and two together once their boots were firmly planted into the lush green surface of Pybus. This place was curse. The trio traveled through the thick of the wood, Kai'Aati at the head of the group. Kai's mood had drastically changed from a standoffish hermit to a kid having the time of their life. Even the increasing potency of the strange aura didn't seem to bother her. The woods had become completely silent of all other life, the party hadn't seen fauna in a kilometer or more.
"We're getting very close." Kai called back. The grounds were littered with worn stones from structures long ago. Looking through the small breaks in the trees they could all see a building ominously untouched by time. The Fortress was shaped like a four corner pyramid with the top half of the structure cut off. A pillar sprouted from each corner of the building. Flora stopped growing near the Fortress and the trees had opted to grow taller seemingly to give their branches some distance from this odd structure.

As the two entered the ancient structure, they both got an ominous feeling in the Force. That not all was as it appeared or seemed inside the temple, a cold chill almost seemed to creep up they're spines as they stepped further inside. Along the walls hung some kind of ancient torches, unlit sat upon hand carved script and images of old wars and conquest. Ancient sith writing, unseen for centuries. Further ahead and around them was complete darkness, save what light came from outside.
And then the door shut suddenly behind as the small group advanced. And the cold chill came again, almost as if something or someone were probing them both, plying to see who were these intruders in their domain.

As Kairos spoke up, he felt another cold shiver run up his spine that grew in intensity as he attempted to provoke the spirit or what he assumed to be spirit into some kind of a reaction. The spirit could find no purchase in it's probe of the Sith Master, his will powerful enough to resist such an effort with little qualms. And yet his dark signature was clear.
The young woman however was not so fortunate, untrained as she was and unused to such an intrusion. It found much interesting about this one as the same chill coveted her spine. Nothing and no-one replied, instead the chill cold seemed to vanish...for now almost as suddenly as it had been there. The torches lit alight a blue eery glow as each down the corridor lit the area. Until turning the fiery orange, yellow familiar of all flame.
Kairos heard nothing, felt nothing. Just that something appeared to have taken a dislike to his provocative behaviour. However for Kai'Ati it was a different matter entirely. She found the cold remained, and a strange whisper crept upon the very air. One that did not speak, but crept. A darkness that knawed at the insides, and appeared to almost tell her she should go forward and whatever waited beyond.
Kai'Aati couldn't shake the feeling that something was still in the room with them but chose to ignore it, choosing to go deeper into the temple. She had grown used to the strange whispers heard across the planet but being so close to the source was making her paranoid. She was looking for whatever was clearly lurking in the shadows.
Before she could take her second step, Kai'Aati field Kairos' hand clamp down on her shoulder. There was still a hint of mirth on his face, but his tone was deadly serious as he spun her around to face him. "Okay, this is your first time in one of these so I'm going to lay down some ground rules," he said firmly. "One - the spirits in this ruin will try to manipulate you. They might try to show you images and break you, they might try to kill you, they might try to occupy you. Keep your wits about you at all times, and don't trust anything except me. And you'll know it's me, because-" He grinned. "I'm hard to fake. Two, keep light about you at all times. Here."
He handed her his glowrod, and drew and activated his lightsaber. The red blade bathed his face in a baleful glow, and suddenly he looked a decidedly more sinister person. "Never trust the dark. And three...don't let them in. Alright, let's go."
Kairos released his grip on her shoulder, and kept a closer pace behind her with his lightsaber raised above his head as they pressed forward. Kairos didn't trust the sconces on the wall in the slightest - his lightsaber was part of him, and the light that it gave off couldn't be manipulated. Anything else could, including the glowrod he'd given Kai'Aati - but there was no need to spook her.

As the two moved even further along, the air got noticeably colder, they could see the very air they breathed and the room felt like a Hoth tundra. Both their bodies were fihting against such cold, a natural reaction to such a sudden yet extreme temperature change....one not natural in the slightest. It appeared something was definitely playing with them....testing them.
As they walked, they came upon a larger room. One who's floor was coated in a thick foggy, mist. Some type.of.ancient river appeared to flow through the temple, a bridge crossed it, made of the same type of stone as the temple itself. And within the thick fog of the room, sounds could be heard. Beastly sounds, and several eyes could vaguely be seen from time to time before dissapearing again. Soon enough and Kairos heightened senses in the Force picked up danger as they were attacked.
From the gloom of the room, 5 Vornskr (CL6) emerged, complete with their poisonous barbed tails. Vornskr, Kairos recalled were a doglike predator with an innate sensitivity to The Force and Force-users. These furred quadrupeds had long legs tipped in sharp claw, powerful jaws filled with deadly fangs and long, whip-like tails tipped with poisonous spines. Aggressive, fast and incredibly strong for their size. Vornskrs sometimes mistook a Force-user for a group of Ysalamiri, leading them to attack. The presence of Force-users was said to enrage Vornskrs, a behavior that no amount of training could eliminate.
It appeared that, that particular rumour held true. Mutated and larger than the normal variety, these were clearly guardians, bred to protect whatever lay here and the secrets of their master. They were doubly aggressive having picked up on the two's force-sensitivy.
Two (Vornskr 1 and 2) dissapeared briefly into the mist before emerging on both flanks of Kai'Ati, crossing the river in a attempt to reach her. The other 3 (Vornskr 3, 4 and 5) likewise performed a similar pattern upon Kairos, only this time one came running across the bridge, blocking it in the process.
Soon enough and the first of the beasts attacked. Leaping from the shallow river, one of the hound like beasts (Vornskr 1) attempted to dig it's teeth into the flesh of Kai'Ati intent to make of her an easy meal. Teeth shining and claws sharp, this would not be an easy fight by any means.
1d4+6 Roll Result = 9 Much better foe you Kai, he hardly hit lol 😄
The Vornskr (Vornskr 1) leapt with the precision of a seasoned predator. It's feline like features, speed and archaic grace allowed the vicious creature to land on the other side of the small river with little trouble. And from there the beast ran at Kai'Ati, hitting her on the arm with a scratch from it's razor sharp claws.
